How to Bypass Firefox's Add-on Signing Check

1. Download the two configuration files here.

2. Copy the two files into the Firefox program directory.

For Windows OS:

The paths below are for a 32 bit OS with 32 bit Firefox
and for a 64 bit OS with a 64 bit Firefox.

Copy config.js to:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\config.js

Copy config-prefs.js to:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\config-prefs.js

For Windows OS:

The paths below are for a 64 bit OS with 32 bit Firefox.

Copy config.js to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\config.js

Copy config-prefs.js to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\config-prefs.js

For Mac OS (special thanks to RobertJ):

Copy config.js to:

/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/config.js

Copy config-prefs.js to:

/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/defaults/pref/config-prefs.js

For Linux OS (special thanks to ineuw):

The terminal commands are:

$ sudo cp config.js /usr/lib/firefox

and

$ sudo cp config-prefs.js /usr/lib/firefox/defaults/pref

3. If your unsigned add-ons, that you have installed, still show as not verified, delete the following files from your Firefox profile (they will be rebuilt when Firefox is re-opened):

addons.json

compatibility.ini

extensions.ini

extensions.json

 Note: If you delete these files, when you re-open Firefox, all of your add-ons will need to be re-enabled (not re-installed). If the unsigned add-ons still show as not verified, reinstall the unsigned add-ons.

Note: When updating Firefox, you need to make sure
these "inserted" files are still there.
